Nepalese traditional and folk music concert

Do you love Nepalese music or would like to explore some? This event is for you! Some twenty musicians and singers are performing a live music on June 26th, Sunday evening. The event will feature traditional and folk music and songs from different ethnic groups from various parts of Nepal. This includes music form Sherpa, Tamang, Magar, Gurung, Newar and other community from Nepal.

This is Free and Open to all program and donation is accepted.

The program features following key musicians:

subhash-prajapati
Subhash Ram Prajapati
Subhash is a musician and a researcher. He specializes on Nepalese traditional/folk music and currently studying Ethnomusicology at University of Washington. With dozens of research publications on Nepalese music, he is also the founder of “Youth for culture promotion” project.


takahashi-marie
Marie Takahashi
Marie, modern and baroque violist, was born in Sapporo, Japan. Marie has studied in Japan, France, and Germany. She was a member of orchestras in Japan, France and Hungary but her curiosity and passion for small ensembles led her to become a chamber musician. Her ensembles vary from baroque string trio to contemporary piano quartet with electronica.

Sita Gurung
Sita is a well known Nepalese folk singer, composer and lyricist. With seven albums produced, she has also produced and acted in many Nepalese movies. She is also a founder of Baseri community health clinic. Past president of Nepal Seattle Society, she is current president of NW Tamu Society.

Sunil Joshi
Sunil Joshi is well known musician and inspiration for many people in Seattle area. He has master skill in guitar and sound engineering. He has performed in many places in Asia, Europe and North America.

Rabin is a music composer, lyricist and Singer. He began his musical journey since his childhood. He studied music in Fine Arts college Nepal in 2004 and currently Studying Visual Communications Technology at Shoreline College.

Sanjeev is a composer and a singer.

Deepika Shrestha
Deepika is a nurse by profession. She is from Bhaktapur and, currently, is staying in Bellevue. She loves to sing for fun while doing her regular household chores. She is very happy to meet all the team members and is excited to perform in this cultural program.


anusha-shree-sharma
Anusha Shree Sharma
Nine year old versatile musician Anusha plays harmonium, veena, piano and other instruments. She has already been playing in many performance and shown her musical talent. She is currently learning Hindustani music in Seattle.
