Rays Events brings Badhshala to Seattle

Rays events is showing Nepali movie “Badhshala” in Seattle. According to the officials, the show has been scheduled for 29th June, 2013 Saturday at 1:00 PM in Central Cinema, Capitol Hill – Seattle.

Badhshala is a movie based on the torture story inside an army Barrack (Bhairab Natha Gan) where the then Maoists rebels are known to be tortured, humiliated, and disappeared after killing during the decade long insurgent period. Directed by Manoj Pandit, and the story inspired by books like ‘Adhyara 258 Dinharu’ by Jitman Basnet, ‘Manav Badhshala’ by Krishna KC and an anonymous article written in Janastha weekly- all being either Maoists or Pro-Maoists, the movie is expected to depict the story just from the rebels point of view.

Nepal Army had objected the use of the dress of army in the movie without prior approval and had asked the government to ban the movie. The film makers had protested the ban and the movie release was postponed for more than a month.
